I found my mojo in the city on this visit. Perhaps it was because I was scouting for my September 2018 weekend street photography workshop I'm hosting with Olympus Visionary, Mike Boening! And OMG I found out that our workshop SOLD OUT while I was in NYC scouting! It only took 4 days to sell the 4 slots we offered. So exciting. There's already interest for our Spring 2019 workshop.
This journey once again is showing me that we really do create our own reality, one step at a time. I've also started a new chapter in my life, transformational public speaking. It's really rather humorous that I'm doing this because it wasn't all that long ago that I was terrified to get up in front of a small group and give a 30 second introduction. And now I'm loving standing up in front of a 100+ people to talk about my journey. It's amazing what you can do once you wrestle fear out of your body. If you need a speaker for your club or organization, you can learn more about what I speak about here. :)
Onward!

It's funny but I really like the light on the bucket!
East Village. Argh.
Oh gosh, the world ended? I have no idea where I was.
There's a lot of this mosaic art in the East Village area.
Well, maybe not perfect...
I love that they're both looking at me.
Cool street art.
In this place is a secret entrance to a speakeasy called PDT (Please Don't Tell). Ok, I just told.

So colorful!
Now this was pretty interesting. This guy is inviting strangers over to have a chat.
Hey, bud! I almost got you in focus. LOL
But wait for it...here's what happened next!
There was a door! It was like he got gobbled up in the reflection. Can't wait to go back and shoot here again.
UPS truck was getting a ticket! I didn't know they ticketed them in the city.
Dream big. Always!
Peekaboo!
One of my favorites of the day.
Hmmm, I'm not sure how interesting the object is, but it did take two of them! Welcome to my #InterestingThings collection!
Some day my photos of pay phones are going to be really valuable since they will no longer exist. LOL
The heat, my god the heat! (Seinfeld reference)
Here's a really cheerful slice of pizza for you! At first I thought it was a banana.
Playing handball. This was the moment the ball got away from them and went out into a busy intersection. They retrieved it.
Made my way to Chinatown.
So interesting to see foods and have no idea what they are.
Meh, good effort but kinda dull. Not Interesting (Enough) Thing...
Cool shirt!
Have a seat.
At this point in my exploring, I was curious how long it would take to get from Little Italy to Washington Square Park. Poof, I came upon a sign that told me exactly how long it would take to walk. #coincidence (no such thing)

...and shoes! $$$
He's quite active on Instagram. I looked him up. Not going to post this one on Instagram, however. It's a tad blurry because the N word kinda freaked me out so I kept moving but snapped the photos.
Loved this add for www.adoptuskids.org!
I would like to live in New York for a year. Guess I need to be careful when I choose an apartment.
You heard it here first!!
Washington Square Park.
Perhaps related to the Crackhead Jesus sticker?
I called this one "Little Feet".
Meow!
A really good day of shooting in New York. Perhaps because my goal was not to get great photos but more to scope out the area so my expectations were pretty relaxed. Came home with some fun stuff!
Until the next Magic Metro...
xo,
Megan
